William Kercher
Here is a little bit about me and how I got to this point.
After high school, I spent four years in the Air Force as a Medic. I was first stationed in Ohio and then in Anchorage, Alaska. Following my discharge, I attended Wright State University, in Dayton, Ohio, where I earned a Master of Science in geology. With that degree in geology, I entered the oil industry in Houston, Texas, as a Petroleum Geologist. I enjoyed my time in the oil industry.
However, as they say, all good things… My career in the oil industry ended during a period of unusually low oil prices. It’s difficult now to imagine how the price of oil could ever be low, much less too low. But it did happen.
I took that change as a sign from above to take a chance, to try something new. So, I did just that. I took a deep breath and tried something that I had been doing as a hobby for years - writing. It took a while to get everything going, but with time, everything came together. I found a publisher and even did editing for that publisher. With my novels, short stories, a book discussing my ideas on gravity and a book on managing diabetes, this life switch has taken hold.
My various career venues have played a large part in writing both my novels and my short stories. There isn't one scene, event or character in my books that is not impacted by events in my life. There is a cliché in writing that says, “Write about what you know.” Well, that cliché works. I think the scenes and the characters in my stories are real because, in a way, I have experienced all of them before putting them to paper.
This has been a little insight into me, my life and my writing. Please feel free to explore the site and learn more about my books. And if you should have any questions or comments about either my books or about the books written by the other featured authors, feel free to contact me at:
